In
1710, Bartolomeo Cristofori took the harpsichord and created the
gravicembali col piano e forte (familiarly called the pianoforte).
It was a revolutionary change that affected music composers from
Bach to Marvin Hamlisch. It
took another Italian, electronic artist Remo Saraceni, to create
the newest variation on the theme with The Wallking Piano(TM).
"I wanted to take the piano, a conventional instrument that
was invented by another Italian, and remove all its seriousness
and austerity and make it an instrument that you can walk across"
- Mr. Saraceni said. "I wanted to make technology playful
and utilitarian at the same time.
A
3-years-old can jump on the piano, and a 90-years-old man can
walk on it".
